Highlight Incorrect Words
You hear a recording; a transcript is shown on screen. Find and click the words in the transcript that differ from what the speaker said.
Format
- 2-3 items
- Audio is 15-50 seconds long
Scoring criteria
- 1 point for each mismatched word correctly found, minus 1 for each correct word wrongly clicked

Answering technique
- 1Move your eyes along the text in sync with the audio; the instant a heard word doesn't match a written one, click it — don't wait until the audio ends to recall
- 2Because wrong clicks are penalized, only click words you're sure you heard differently; don't click on a hunch
- 3This task tests listening-reading sync; practise with intensive listening while following a transcript
Common pitfalls
- Following the audio without checking the text, and missing mismatched words
- Mistaking a pause in delivery for a different word
