Exam-day info

• You must bring a valid passport (accepted everywhere and the preferred ID); the name, date of birth and gender on it must match your registration exactly
• No electronic ID is accepted
• A Canadian permanent resident card is accepted only at test centres within Canada
• If your passport is temporarily unavailable because it's with an immigration application, you can request an alternative document such as a Refugee Protection Claimant Document or a CIC-issued immigration document (e.g. IMM 1442)
• For applications where the ID details are disputed, the support team usually replies within 3-5 business days; verification must be completed before you book the exam

The test centre monitors the room by CCTV, and on exam day the following are collected:

• ID photo
• Signature
• Palm vein scan
• A recorded spoken self-introduction on the spot

1. Bring your ID (matching the details used for online registration) and arrive at least 30 minutes early
2. Once you enter the check-in area, no electronic devices are allowed
3. Check-in staff give you the exam-rules booklet and a seat number tag / locker key, verify your ID, have you sign the exam rules, take your palm vein scan, and take your photo
4. Tip: while you wait, quietly read the rules booklet aloud as if it were a Read Aloud task to warm up your voice and get into "reading aloud" mode early

• Phones, electronic devices, smart watches
• Jewellery thicker than 1/4 inch (about 0.6 cm)
• Wallets / bags, hats, coats, books / notes

All of the above must go in a locker outside the room. Eating, drinking, smoking and talking to others are not allowed inside the room.

• All personal items must go in a locker; phones and other electronic devices must be switched off before being stored — the test centre is not responsible for lost / stolen / damaged personal items
• You'll be asked to empty your pockets and confirm you're carrying nothing personal
• You'll be given an erasable whiteboard and two pens — you may not write anything on it before the exam officially starts
• The whiteboard and pens stay in the room for the whole exam and are returned at the end; raise your hand to swap for a new one if it fills up
• Your identity is verified again before the start; the whole exam is monitored and recorded on audio and video

Warning: candidates who break the exam rules may have their scores cancelled; those who cheat or behave improperly may be permanently banned from taking the exam, and serious cases may face legal liability.
